Strengths and weaknesses of the department

Strengths:

  1. In order to strengthen the department in the field of engineering analysis, academic membership is taken in NAFEMS (U.K), an international association for the engineering analysis community.
  2. Having students’ chapter (Institution of Engineers India chapter – 516) and Mechanical Engineering Students Association (MESA), to cater the needs of arranging curricular and extracurricular activities of ROBO CLUB are initiated to strengthen the department in Mechatronics area.

Weaknesses:

  1. Shortage of permanent faculty
  2. Lack of trained supporting non-teaching staff
Departmental best practices:
  1. Assignment system, taking feedback from students for the subjects taught by the faculty at the end of the semester/year and also the follow-up given for the self-approval reports from the faculty.
  2. Having a department library contributed by the faculty and students, and maintained by the students.
  3. Regular industrial visits in each semester for the students and staff.
  4. Conducting seminars, industrial visits, film shows, technical symposiums, and guest lectures by academic and industrial experts.
  5. Following the effective teaching and learning process throughout the year/semester.
  6. Handling the most advanced and practical-oriented optional subjects for final year students.
  7. Arranging practical-oriented software training and demonstrations for the students and faculty by internal and external experts/faculty.
