ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT:
The Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE) department was established in the year 2006. The department offers an Under Graduate (UG) program in Electronics and Communication Engineering, a full time Post Graduate (PG) program in Digital Electronics and Communication Systems and a part-time PG program in Digital Electronics and Communication Systems which provide a platform for bright graduates and to conduct research in state-of-the-art technologies.
The B.Tech in ECE at JNTUA College of Engineering Pulivendula is one of the most sought after programs in the state of Andhra Pradesh and attracts top 5% students qualifying in the Andhra Pradesh Engineering, Agricultural and Medical Common Entrance Test (AP EAMCET). The M.Tech program is also equally sought after by the students qualifying in GATE and PGECET examinations. The students of the department have been consistently securing top ranks in National competitive examinations such as GATE and CAT. All the eligible students are placed in several National and International companies, Indian Public Sector companies as well as Multinational companies working in the IT and Financial sectors. About 40% of the graduates pursue post graduate and doctoral studies in the top-rated Universities in India and abroad.
The major goal of the Department of ECE is to produce highly knowledgeable, competent and resourceful young engineers who can perform well in a wide variety of job profiles. To achieve this, curriculum provides a strong foundation in both the analytic and technological aspects of ECE. It also provides ample opportunities to students to work on mini-projects, develop communication skills, explore internship opportunities in industry and take part in National and International design contests.
The department is functioning with
16 faculty members, 1 with Ph.D, 5 pursuing Ph.D and remaining are M.Tech holders
from reputed universities. Faculty regularly attends workshops, conferences and
faculty development programs conducted at IITs, IIMs, NITs and Universities,
publishing papers in reputed National and International journals.
State-of-the-art laboratory and infrastructure facilities effectively aid teaching and learning process. Texas Instruments established Centre of Excellence facility in Linear Integrated Applications and Embedded Systems laboratories in the department. The department has MoU’s with Sapience Consulting, Bangalore and EdGate Technologies, Bangalore under Texas Instruments University Program. All the Students are encouraged to do certification courses offered by APSSDC and MOOCs offered by IIT’s. Students are supported to actively participate in Co-curricular, extracurricular and professional chapter activities.

Electronics & Communications Engineering is a demanding course as it requires an innovative and logical mindset, and the ability to constantly learn and apply new concepts and technologies. For graduates who are looking at challenging and wide variety of opportunities and interested to work in multiple domains should prefer this course. Several subjects in this program deal with scientific computations and analysis. Electronics and Communication Engineering is very interesting branch to study.
Electronics and communication engineer has plenty of opportunities in wide variety of domains. Few of them are Embedded system, VLSI, Communications, Networking, Mechatronics, Aviation, Robotics, Nanotechnology, Computer Science, Biomedical Instrumentation and healthcare etc., Opportunities are there in PSU's like DRDO, Indian railways, ISRO, BEL, HAL, AAI, ONGC, SAIL, etc., Good opportunities for startups and to become an entrepreneur. Also ECE graduates have good higher education and research prospects.
Education has become more globalized, and has changed from being teacher-centered. Industry is demanding for graduates’ with employability skills. In consequence, current degree programs need to address the learning outcomes their graduates should attain. Typically, these cover discipline and contextual knowledge, practical knowledge, skills, personal and professional attributes. Keeping in view the technological changes and industry needs curriculums require periodic review and Department of ECE, JNTUACEP has a permanent mechanism for identifying the curriculum requirements based on national needs and international trends.
